Certification Management Limited (CML) was established in June 2013. Offering a complete range of compliance services, we are an EU Notified Body (No 2503) for ATEX EU/2014/34. This is supported by our UKAS accreditation (No 8175) to IEC 17025 and IEC 17065 and our full scope of accreditation allows us to issue any type of certificate. Appointed in 2014 we are also an Ex certified body (ExCB) and test laboratory (ExTL) with the full scope of standards.

This short course has been designed to provide a general overview of Certification Management Limited and the quality management system required to support Ex product manufacture.

Containing audio commentary, the course covers:  

  • background and purpose of the ATEX Directive;
  • relationship of the IECEx QAR to the ATEX QAN and release of product certification;
  • overview of the content of ISO/IEC 80079-34 and its applicability within a typical manufacturing organisation;
  • actions required to prepare for a QAN/QAR certification audit, including information which the audit team may expect to be available;
  • sample FAQ's;
  • evaluation test / quiz at the end of the training module.

Paul Williams

Paul is a highly experienced Chartered Quality Professional and Engineer with over 35 years of involvement with the Aerospace, Defence, potentially explosive atmosphere and general manufacturing industries.In his career with GEC and Lloyd's Register, Paul attained senior management positions requiring demonstrable leadership and personnel development skills to be applied within his local and remote based multi-national teams.Paul has extensive practical experience of the UK, European and International regulatory and product conformity markets. As Technical Manager, and later Accreditation Manager, of a UK Notified Body Paul has obtained a detailed technical awareness of EU directives, regulations and product standards, including the ATEX Directive, and is hence well placed to apply this knowledge to clients QAN/QAR systems for the CE and Ex Marking for their products.Throughout his career Paul has gained significant experience in establishing, maintaining and auditing quality and business management systems, including QAN/QAR systems in accordance with ISO/IEC 80079-34:2018. This experience is complimented by him also being an IRCA registered Lead Auditor.Paul has, and continues to, participate as a member on International, National and European committees developing conformity assessment codes, standards and implementation guidelines.
